Some Updates
Hello! It’s been quite a long while since I last posted. What have I been doing? Realised that I didn’t blog about my LASIK experience. Well, most of my friends would have heard about it cos I just can’t help but tell everyone about my LASIK experience. š
Yes, I went for LASIK on 7 and 14 June. The surgery was carried out on 2 days as my surgeon strongly believed that having both eyes done on the same day would risk more complications. Oh well, since he’s the expert, I would definitely go with what he says. The surgery went very smoothly, with superb services (like ordering lunch for me, sending me home in a Maxi-cab). But more importantly, I think I want to thank God and praise Him for watching over me. Not only did the surgery go through very smoothly, I did not suffer any side effects like what some of my friends and colleagues do. Currently my vision is 6/4.5, without the need for any spectacles or contact lenses or any form of vision aid. Praise the Lord!
After masters, LASIK and a work-trip of 2 weeks, it is now back to normal life for me. Found a blog recently that has loads of simple recipes. Gonna try out some of the recipes there! š
Over lunch yesterday, a colleague and I were talking about acceptance. As educators, we sometimes knowingly or unknowingly force our own expectations on the children. We get angry when they don’t do as we say, we get upset when they disappoint us. I asked my colleague, “Is this really accepting them for who they really are?” She agreed with me, and we both agree that this seems to be a trait of human being and adults. We get angry and show our displeasure when people do things against what we say, we scold others when things go wrong, we sometimes force our expectations and way of doing things onto our friends or loved ones, and yet we say we accept them for who they are.
At the end of lunch, we concluded that there is only one person who truly accepts us for who we are – Jesus. Being a believer herself, she is fully aware of the kind of love that the Lord has showered upon us. Being a blessed child of God, I am fully aware that He is the only one who has truly accepted me for who I am. And I am thankful that I have a Heavenly Father – someone whom I can trust, someone who loves and accepts me, someone whom I know I can always turn to. Praise the Lord! š
