Club Med Bintan!
Yes, we are back from our Club Med Bintan holiday. We had a great time there! 🙂
Day 1 – 05 Sept
We took the 0910 ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Boy, there were many people heading for Bintan. After a 45-minute ferry ride, we arrived at Bintan Ferry Terminal. We weren’t particularly impressed that we had to make our own way to the Club Med counter to register. Other resorts had staff waiting at the arrival gate. Nevertheless, after registering, we boarded a big bus to Club Med, together with other Club Med guests.
It was a short 10 min bus ride before the bus pulled up at Club Med. There was a friendly welcome by the Club Med “Gentle Organisers” (G.O) and everyone was treated to a cold towel with a welcome drink. There was a short “welcome speech” and we were brought to our room. Nothing fantastic about the room, pretty normal. We quickly unpacked, then went to explore the facilities before going for lunch. Lunch was alright, although I must commend the variety. 🙂
After lunch, we decided to go snorkelling. This was the first time I have ever gone snorkelling in my life. If you do not already know, I am terribly afraid of water, even though I can swim. 😛 But I must admit that snorkelling was pretty fun. We didn’t see many fishes, but it was quite a good experience.
After snorkelling, CG wanted to go sailing, so we did. 🙂 The sea was pretty calm and there wasn’t much wind, so we didn’t really sail for that long. After sailing, we went swimming. Yes, we indulged in all the water sports in one afternoon. 🙂 I didn’t swim much so I decided to go get a drink from the bar whilst CG continued swimming. I was telling CG that this is my dream holiday. To be sipping a nice cold drink by the pool side, under perfect weather. 🙂
After all that immersion in the water, we proceeded for dinner. We got to know this Taiwanese bartender who was also G.O. In Club Med, all G.O.s had to have their meals with the “Gentle Members” (G.M) a.k.a guests. We had dinner with her, and she was telling us about the Club Med programmes lined up for the night. Though pretty tired after a day out in the sun, we decided to go and watch the programmes.
I must commend Club Med for the programmes that they have every night. At 9pm every night, there would be “Showtime”. For the first night that we were there, it was “Gaia at the Pool”. It was a gymnastic performance and it was really good! They did various gymnatics acts above the pool. It was a really fantastic performance. 🙂
There were a few things that impressed me about Club Med. One of them was the Petit Club and Mini Club programmes. At Club Med, parents can leave their children to the Club Med staff who would take care of the children from 9am to 9pm. I must say that this is a very good initiative. Not only does it keep the kids occupied, it also gives parents some time to enjoy themselves too. The schedule of programmes is pinned up on the noticeboard, so parents are aware of the whereabouts of their children. There’s even a diploma given to the kids at the end of their stay. 🙂
The other thing that I liked was the fact that all meals and drinks were included. There were bars located at various parts of the resort and you could go and get a drink at any time of the day, as long as the bar was open. There was a decent variety of drinks, ranging from soft drinks to non-alcoholic cocktails to alcoholic cocktails. 🙂 I think I practically drank all the non-alcoholic drinks available and most were pretty good. 🙂
